" I am lucky enough to have been to Amsterdam several times over the years, this tour is one of the best experiences I've ever had here. Rudolph is an amazing tour guide sharing the history of Amsterdam with great personality and sense of humor. It’s hard to pick a favorite food spot as they were all amazing! "

What to expect

The Jordaan Dutch Food Tour is our new short food tour that we are offering from 2023. The name is derived from our oldest food tour which we have been offering since 2018 and now, with the addition of some deluxe upgrades, is called the 'Grand Dutch Food Tour'.

Short food tours for a reasonable price you can find many in Amsterdam so that makes this tour no different. What does make it different is that we managed to develop this tour without compromising our own high quality standards. For example, the group size is limited to a maximum of 10 guests, you can sit inside at two dining locations, we serve you two drinks and very importantly, we still serve you the tastiest Dutch snacks that go beyond the cliche street and tourist quality food. And also the guides on the tours are still the same experienced, welcoming and local guides you may expect from us.

The tour, as will not surprise you, takes you through the Jordaan, since the beginning our real home in Amsterdam. This former working-class neighborhood from the early 17th century is now one of Amsterdam's most beloved and well-known neighborhoods. The start and end point of the tour is close to all kinds of central locations and famous spots such as the Anne Frank House, the Nine Streets, the Palace on Dam Square and Central Station.

What kind of food do you serve?

Unlike the Grand Dutch Food Tour, the locations and tastings are the same each tour. They consist of 4 stops with Dutch apple pie, 3 kinds of farmers Gouda cheese , Indonesian-Surinamese satay and at the last stop you can choose between something savory with the typical Dutch pub snack called 'bitterballen' or if you are more into sweet you can choose 'poffertjes' , mini pancakes with butter and powdered sugar. And of course you can also share with each other if you can't choose. At the first and second dining location you can choose a drink (draft beer, wine or non-alcoholic beverage) and with the cheese we serve half a glass of wine.

Can you cater for dietary restrictions and allergies?

We can take care of most dietary requirements such as vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten-free, no shellfish or nut-free. You can specify this with your booking. Unfortunately, the tour is not suitable for vegan and dairy-free diets. If you have specific questions about this, please let us know.

3

How much is the walking?

The total walking distance is approximately 2 kilometers and between each tasting you'll walk and stand for about 20 minutes. Two tastings are inside with reserved seating and two are outside. If you or one of your travel companions are less mobile, we recommend you contact us for advice. And in any case, we can organize a private tour adapted to everyone's mobility.

What is your cancellation policy?

Travel does not always go as you planned so we like to be flexible and you can therefore cancel 'The Jordaan Dutch Food Tour' free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the tour. Click here for our detailed terms and conditions of sale.

5

Does the tour go on if the weather is bad?

Yes the tour always goes on unless there is an extreme weather warning ("code orange"). But no worries, we can do all the tastings inside and actually we think bad weather really suits Dutch food....
